“Ozymandias” sonnet

This poem makes me think about old egyptian ruins in the desert, and a story I once read bout a sphynx who guarded a pyramid and told riddles. It makes me think about lost stories and treasure. Reading this poem makes me think about the concept of time, and how things from long ago can still be around while people come and go far more quickly.

Some questions that come to mind when when reading this poem are what was the authors intention? was the author trying to make the readers think about the meanings behind the words such as who is Ozymandias? how did the statue end up in the desert?

visage – a person’s face with reference to the form or proportions of the features

Pedestal – the base or support on which a statue or column is mounted
